Safari – Kicheche Mara Camp & Nairobi – 8/29
This morning we made our final game drive through the Mara North Conservancy to the airstrip to catch our flight back to Nairobi. We had a very nice final morning in the Masai Mara. We drove around for a little while and watched the sunrise and tried to catch a glimpse of a serval cat. For our next sighting of the morning, we drove straight into a circle of bushes and found a male lion and three female lionesses. I’ll never get used to things like that!
We set up for breakfast on the edge of the river above a view of hippos and crocodiles. After enjoying our breakfast, we headed over to the airstrip to await our plane. Our plane was a little bit delayed, but eventually we were back in Nairobi with the rest of the day to kill before our flight out at 11:20 PM. To fill our time we made a little excursion of our own design to the giraffe reserve and to lunch. At the giraffe reserve we were able to kiss and pet the giraffes! We only spent about thirty minutes there and then we headed to lunch. We had a nice lunch and did some shopping and returned to a hotel to shower and change and have some dinner. Finally, we made it to the airport and said goodbye to our wonderful Kenyan experience!
