Euro Tour – Venice, Italy and Brussels, Belgium – Day 10

August 3, 2015

Today we left Venice and we didn’t have time to say goodbye to Ash because he was so far away from us 🙁 So H and I went straight to the train station and caught a train back to the mainland and then a bus to the airport before we caught our flight to Brussels, Belgium.

Getting to our hostel in Brussels was very interesting… We had to go to one hostel to get our keys and then go to our real hostel, which was a distance away. Very weird. We had initially booked a 12 person room, but were only in an 8 person which was nice. After putting our stuff away we went out to explorer the city.

In our time in Brussels we saw a variety of different sites. We saw Manekin Pis (the pissing boy fountain), a lot of comic art (Brussels is home to the comic strip), we got Belgian waffles and Belgian chocolate, saw a lot of historical buildings, saw the Atomium, and spent some time in the gold-adorned market square.

We also toured and did a tasting at a brewery called Cantillon Brewery. They’re one of the last remaining brewery’s that undergo a natural fermentation process and the beer has a champagne like quality to it.

At night we went to a bar, Delirium, that was known for its house brews and had Delirium Tremens and Nocturnum (which I infrequently stumble across in the US now).
