Barcelona, Spain – Day 22

July 16, 2015

This morning I rolled out of bed at 8:45 and had to leave at 9 to get to class, so I literally just brushed my teeth and left. I wanted to skip class so badly and I could have because I still have skips left, but I knew that in our 7 person class that probably only one girl and Blanca were going to be there so I rallied and went. It ended up being just the three of us…

We spent class time doing our homework and playing Guess Who in Spanish since we couldn’t go forward with the lesson plan for the day.

I decided to skip my next class and go to the beach with Sarah instead. So we went to Barceloneta and found a really well known sandwich place that everyone said that we had to try called Bo d b. There was a little bit of a line, but we decided we had to do it. So we waited in line for a little bit, but the sandwiches were awesome! Chicken and lots of veggies, the sandwich couldn’t even close… And it was only 3 euros! So glad we went here.

Then we were going to go to the beach, but we decided we were too full and it was still sooooo hot out, so instead we walked around Barceloneta for a little while and then decided to get some sangria and enjoy the view of the water and the beach. People watching at Barceloneta is really fun because it’s so crowded, so we people watched a lot too.

Then we made our way back to CEA area and went to Corte so that Sarah could buy some toiletries that she was out of and browsed around some shops.

We signed up for another AICAP activity tonight – the Picasso Museum. So at 6:45 we met up with people outside of the Jaume I metro stop. But we were a little early still so we went to La Colmena bakery which was right there. This bakery is pretty famous and 150 years old! Everything looked so delicious so we picked out a few little pastries to try. Super, super yummy. But I think I need to try a meringue  before I leave because I see them everywhere.

We have a list of foods/places we want to eat at one last time or try before we leave:

  • Churros and chocolate
  • Paella
  • Tapas and Pintxos
  • Brunch and Cake
  • Gelato
  • Ovella Negra
  • Ice Bar

We met up with the group again and then a little bit later walked over to the Picasso Museum for the tour. Unfortunately none of Picasso’s famous paintings are here, but what you do get to see is an evolution of his paintings from 13 years old on. It’s cool because you can see his growth as an artist and specifically how his technique and style changed with different influences from being very academic to his cubist and abstract pieces. Pretty neat.

After that we went with some of the guys to an Udon Noodle place across the street to grab some dinner. The service here was so bad and they put a hair in Sarah’s drink when she complained her glass was dirty… Plus it took forever. I do not recommend…

Then we went home to shower and change really fast and then we walked over to Le Cyrano, the pour your own drink place and had some popcorn and strong drinks before heading to Bling Bling. Bling Bling might be my favorite club, it is so fun and the music is so good! We got into VIP here and got to play with some sparklers with Aashi and got some free drinks too! We stayed here for a pretty long time before deciding to go home.
